New Orleans Mosquito and Termite Control Board:  National Termite Survey

Termites of Hong Kong

While in Hong Kong, I conducted field research projects using termite baiting systems for Coptotermes formosanus with Stuart Morton (BioCycle Ecological Professional Services). This region of the world is where Formosan subterranean termites are endemic. In my opinion, the amount of damage caused by this species in Hong Kong easily rivals the amount of damage caused by the same species in New Orleans.

Stuart and I are also currently conducting a complete Hong Kong termite survey. Below I’ve included pictures of the other seven species we’ve collected so far and various pictures of Formosan subterranean termite damage in Hong Kong and China.
